I didn’t get to watch all the fights but here are some of the fights that I did see and wanted to share some thoughts about:
Tito Ortiz (16-5-1) Vs. Lyoto Machida (12-0)
Result: Machida wins via unanimous decision.
This was a good fight to watch. Both fighters were aggressive but the outcome was Lyoto Machida walked away with a lucky win. Lyoto controlled the fight through the whole match. Tito took a good beating by Lyoto where he had cuts under both eyes by the end of the second round. In the third round, Lyoto threw a flying knee kick and knocked Tito to the ground and from then Tito was in big trouble. Out of nowhere, Tito tried to pull off a crazy maneuver and almost put Lyoto in a triangle and then switch over and attempted an arm bar. Tito almost had him but then made a big mistake of letting go. I was pretty disappointed that he didn’t win this match. One little mistake cost him the match!
Christian Wellisch (9-2) loses to Shane Carwin (8-0)
This fight was just a classic and quick match. Both fighters come out and exchanged punches and then Shane Carwin connected one right in his chin and knocked him out. The referee stopped the fight because Christian Wellisch seems to be dazed and the way he fell to the mat, it looked like he was out cold. Christian’s mouth piece went flying to the mat when he got hit and the fight was stopped.
Wilson Gouveia (10-4) Vs. Goran Reljic (7-0)
Result: Reljic wins via TKO at 3:15 in the 2nd round.
I am just amazed of Goran Reljic. This guy is like the next Cro-Cop! I lost count of how many kicks he threw against Wilson Gouveia because it was too much. Wilson did well of defending Gorans kicks but how many kicks can he block. Wilson’s right arm was jacked up pretty bad. Wilson didn’t show any kind of pain but to me no matter how much you train for this sport, I don’t think a person arm can take that beating.
Wanderlei Silva (31-8-1) Vs. Keith Jardine (13-4-1)
Result: Silva wins via KO at 0:36 of the 1st round.
HAHA! Ladies and Gentlemens, Keith Jardine just got 0wned by Wanderlei Silva. That’s all I got to say about this match.
BJ Penn (13-4-1) Vs. Sean Sherk (35-2-1)
Result: Penn wins via TKO at 5:00 in the 3rd round.
I didn’t get to finish this whole match because I had to do something but from the first round I saw, both were exchanging punches and BJ Penn was winning. BJ Penn has some lightning jabs against Sean Sherk and I just don’t know why Sean doesn’t go for a take down or something. Instead he wanted to stand there and box with BJ Penn. Sean came out of the second round with some nice fast jabs but then I had to go so I don’t know what happened after that. Booooo!
